The focus of the Hospital Dental Service is to provide treatment to patients who cannot receive care from dentists in the community due to medical, physical, intellectual or psychiatric disability. People treated from these groups still pay part charges unless they are an inpatient, receiving care for a subsequent inpatient treatment (e.g. organ transplant), or have a congenital abnormality. People in receipt of National Superannuation are currently eligible for relief of pain treatment.

The Hospital Dental Service provides a domiciliary service to Rest Homes. The Dentist may visit person in their own home if elderly person unable to attend the clinic due to mobility reasons.

Beneficiaries such as DPB, Disability, Sickness and people holding a Community Services Card may be entitled to subsidised dental care for emergency treatment. The list of approved Dentists is under the name: Emergency Dental Care and can be found by searching this database under that name.

Some dentists (LISTED IN YELLOW PAGES) will make a home visit. Some Registered Dental Technicians (ALSO listed in Yellow Pages under Dental Clinics, Dental Laboratories, Dental Technicians) will make a home visit.
