Parking meters
The rate for most on-street meters is $3.10 per hour. The Council has introduced $2 per hour meter rates in some areas of the Central City. You must observe the time limit on the meter. The hours of operation are on each meter.
Meters take coins, credit card (Visa or Mastercard) and mobile phone text (Vodafone and Telecom). A 50 cent transaction fee applies to payments made by credit card or text. At times payment by text may not be available due to technical issues. A receipt from a parking meter can be used as a GST receipt or proof of a business expense.
Parking coupons can be used in coupon parking areas or on any parking meter. They are to be displayed on the dashboard, as you would a pay and display ticket.
If you have time remaining on your coupon after parking at a meter, you can re-use the coupon at any other parking meter and, provided the coupon has not been used previously, it can be used even if the year has expired. They can be used in any ‘on street’ metered parking area. Old coupons can be used.

30 minute coupons (ten per book) $15.50
60 minute coupons (ten per book) $31.
Coupons cannot be purchased over the telephone by credit card. Parking coupons are all cash on delivery. Coupons are normally sold by the book but some outlets do sell them individually. Businesses can order coupon books if they have an account (minimum order is five books).
