The Dental Council is the statutory body constituted under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 for maintaining self-regulation of the dental professions. The primary role is to promote and protect the public interest by ensuring that oral health practitioners are safe and competent to practise. Regulate dentists, dental specialists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, clinical dental technicians, dental technicians, and orthodontic auxiliaries.
