Change of address, loss of a loved one or friends, a decline in health/mobility and loss of a drivers license can all affect people’s ability to get out and about easily and meet others.
This service helps people take that next step by supporting them to meet new people in an informal environment and share conversation and activities.
Please note that where our minibuses are used for transport, passengers must be able to board and disembark with limited assistance.
Check out our Information Directory for further ideas about other activities going on around Christchurch, or give us a call.

Café Groups suit those interested in meeting and getting to know others who live locally. Groups meet fortnightly at a regular time, and visit different cafes in and around your area. We encourage people to make their own way to the venue, however we do provide transport when needed. In some areas there is a waiting list as we have limited resources, but we will do our best to link you in as soon as possible. Invitations with dates and venues will be posted to you in advance.
Morning Café Group: Pick up between 9:30am – 10.15am
Afternoon Café Group: Pick up between 1:30pm – 2.15pm
Donation: Gold Coin

Host visits are an excellent way to get out and spend time with others, and have a change of scenery. Volunteer drivers will pick you up from your home in one of our minibuses and take you for a leisurely drive, before arriving for morning or afternoon tea and/or entertainment at either the home of one of our volunteer hosts, or another venue in the community such as a local library or school. The co-ordinator will call a few days prior to the outing to see if you are available.
