Steady As You Go (SAYGo) Classes Still Popular

The Steady As You Go (SAYGo) falls prevention classes coordinated by Age Concern Canterbury continue to be popular. So popular that we are expanding our classes.  This month new classes are beginning in the RSA Hall Rangiora and St Christophers Church, Avonhead.  Later in the year a new class will be starting at St Barnabas Church Hall in Fendalton.

The classes are designed to improve balance, leg strength, and flexibility as well as contributing to overall fitness and wellbeing.  Coordinated by an Age Concern staff member, the classes are community based and peer led.

Steady As You Go has been shown to provide continuous improvements in strength and balance over time.  Three simple tests carried out in the first week, are repeated at week 10 to check on improved strength and balance.

Classes are one hour each week with a koha/donation of $2 or $3 each class.  There are currently 39 weekly classes running throughout Christchurch and North Canterbury.  A full list of classes can be seen HERE
