The Bishopdale Community Trust was established in 1999 to support people in the North-West area of Christchurch, in particular Bishopdale. We do this by helping people feel part of the community and offering a warm welcome when they join us at The Hub at 94 Farrington Avenue.
We run a number of groups and activities including:
MONDAY
Tech Support: Needing some help with your computer, laptop or phone? We have a team of computer whizzes who are here to help! 9am – 12pm. Grab a cuppa while you wait. This service is free; however donations are very much appreciated.
Coffee & Friendship: Come along and enjoy morning tea with others. We’d love to see you. 10:30am – 11:30am.
Mahjong Group: Come along and play mahjong with a friendly group. 12:30pm-2:30pm.
Card Making Club: Mondays during school term at 1pm – 3pm, $5 per session. A weekly club for keen card makers wanting to meet with others with similar interests to share ideas and techniques. New members welcome.
TUESDAY
Scrabble Group: Come along and play scrabble with a friendly group. 9:45am – 12pm.
Parenting Neuro-diverse Children (POND): Support group for parents to chat with other parents with similar challenges, to share ideas and tools that work. School term time, 10:00am to 11:30am.
Women’s Social Walking Group: Meets at Sundbye House, Tuesdays 9:30am (summer) or 10am (winter). Come along and try us out for free. Cost is $20 per year, including morning tea at the Hub after the walk. Enjoy a range of walks around the local area.
WEDNESDAY
Rummikub Group: Come along and learn to play this easy to learn, fast moving game. 10am-12pm.
Craft Group: An informal, friendly group, open for knitters, crocheters, crafters – all welcome. Bring your own craftwork. The group is supported by an experienced tutor. 1pm-3pm.
500 Card Playing Group: Includes a light afternoon tea. New members are always very welcome. 1pm – 3pm.
THURSDAY
Community Lunch: Sandwiches in the summer and hot soup in the winter. Yummy food and good company. 11:30am-12:30pm. All welcome!
Christmas Craft Group: Make handmade Christmas items to be sold to raise funds for the trust. Materials are provided. 1pm to 3pm. Everybody is welcome.
A gold coin donation is appreciated for the majority of our activities.
