Community gardens are created and maintained by a local group of people who share similar aims. They recycle resources, and use organic methods.
Gardens are utilised to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables for the benefit and enhancement of the local community. It is a place where flowers, fresh herbs and healthy food is available to the participants. Everyone can participate, children, youth, people with disabilities, adults, the elderly, can all visit and contribute.

Courses for gardening. Community Centre running different courses. Hours open – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 10am-4pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm. Will take calls from people needing assistance in moving plants to new their home if they have to relocate because of the earthquakes, or people wanting to donate plants where they will be watered & then given away. They are also looking for volunteers to be able to do this and will be rewarded with some produce from the garden

Alternatively there is also access from St David’s Street) A regular group meets on Wednesdays from 10.00am.
