Disability Allowance is for people who have a medical condition and need on-going medical care and help with everyday tasks. It can be paid for an age related disability. It is paid to help with the extra costs of having a medical condition, like regular visits to the doctor, medicines, extra heating, transport or medical alarm. To get a Disability Allowance you must have a medical condition that is likely to last for at least 6 months, and need on-going help and medical care. If you are in receipt of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran’s Pension, you and your partner’s income must be under a certain limit. Phone work and Income 0800 0559 009 to enquire about financial assistance.
