If you hold a Community Services Card there are a number of dentists who are able to complete emergency treatment, including extractions and permanent fillings, for a part charge. The definition of an emergency is: pain, swelling or an infection that is bad enough to cause you significant disruption. Emergency dental care is a one-off treatment of the problem. It does not cover regular examinations and cleaning. If the dentist decides that the condition does not meet the definition of a dental emergency, they will charge their usual fee. The part charge is currently $40.00 towards the treatment cost.
