Need something that will occupy some of your time and continue to provide a challenge both mentally and physically. Don’t let the world pass you by in retirement, join an organisation like the Ferrymead Tramway where you can learn new skills and gain immense satisfaction through volunteer work. The Tramway Historical Society Inc. is based at 269 Bridle Path Road in Ferrymead Heritage Park. Since it was formed, the Society has taken on many projects – but is perhaps best known for the establishment of the Ferrymead Tramway.
There is plenty of opportunity for volunteers to join our sociable group and have fun restoring, driving and maintaining the Trams & Buses and associated infrastructure.
On the social side, the Society organises a bus trip or an event for members each month.
There is a lot more information on the things we do on our website www.ferrymeadtramway.org.nz
The trams are operating at Ferrymead every day and the first Sunday of each month is Steam Sunday. You can see the 1884 Kitson Steam Tram running with old Double-Decker Trailers.
If you are interested come along to the Tram Barn in Bridle Path Road, introduce yourself and have a look around.
