An international service which seeks to locate family members who are ‘separated’. Applications forms are to be completed as fully as possible and returned with appropriate registration fee of $75for one person or a married couple in New Zealand and $100 for one person or a married couple overseas. Concessions may be approved by the Director for those who cannot afford the full amount. The Family Tracing Service does not search for parents who are not named on their child’s birth certificate (photocopy required), people to be contacted about legal or business matters other than to notify the beneficiary of a deceased estate, to assist with genealogical research ( family tree), for persons under 18 years of age, long-lost loves and acquaintances (requests to search for elderly friends of long-standing may be considered in special circumstances).
