Age Concern Canterbury now approved Total Mobility Agency

Age Concern Canterbury has recently been approved as an agent for the Total Mobility Scheme which assists eligible people to access appropriate transport to enhance their community participation.  This assistance is provided in the form of subsidised door to door transport services.  The national scheme for eligible people is currently funded jointly by regional councils  and central government.  Eligible individuals are able to receive subsidised fares with approved transport providers.  Within Canterbury , Total Mobility services operate in the greater Christchurch area, Ashburton, Timaru and Waimate.  In each of these areas the subsidy is currently set at 50% of the fare up to a maximum of $35.00 per trip.

Age Concern Canterbury has now been approved to administer this scheme by providing assessments to verify the applicant meets the eligibility criteria.  Any eligible person must have an impairment that prevents them from travelling on public transport.
