Volunteer Week celebrated with lunch and recipes

Age Concern Canterbury celebrated International Volunteers Week with a lunch for all our volunteers in the Silks Lounge at Addington Raceway

Our organisation is fortunate to have over 300 volunteers who; drive our minivans, assist with social outings, visit isolated people, host our clients, and undertake a variety of other roles to ensure our services can be delivered.  Even with Covid restrictions in 2021, volunteers still contributed 13,000 hours to improving the lives of older people.

Over 170 volunteers  attended the lunch. Some long term volunteers received certificates of service and CEO Simon Templeton thanked every volunteer for the contribution they make to the lives of older people in our community.

Age Concern Canterbury had put together a special recipe book which celebrates the baking skills of our volunteer hosts, and the book was made available to all volunteers at the lunch.

A copy of the book “Old Gems” can be accessed here
