Telephone-Based Peer Support
If you have been diagnosed with a retinal disorder, have a family member or close friend who has, or just want to find out more about Retina NZ, ring 0800 233 833 (New Zealand only) to talk to a peer support co-ordinator. This is a voluntary organisation supporting people with retinal degenerative disorders. Includes macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, retinal detachments, Usher syndrome, Stargardt, Aged related maculopathy. Publishes information booklets and a quarterly newsletter. Has a peer support telephone service 0800 233 833 available 7 days.
Their specific aims are to raise public awareness about retinal degenerative disorder, establish links between families and organisations, and to provide members with information about their disorder, as well as pressing for research, and raising money to sponsor research.
They are part of international network involving 47 member countries.
Member of AMD Alliance International which spans 21 countries.
